Re-survey Until the Number Moves

A survey you run once is trivia. Superhuman kept surveying new users on a rolling basis and made the 'very disappointed' percentage the most visible number in the company, tracked weekly, monthly, and quarterly, and set as the top OKR.

Each quarter the team rebuilt the roadmap from fresh survey data using the same process: segment, find the lovers, mine the somewhat-disappointed, split 50/50. Within three quarters the score went from 22% to 58%, well past the benchmark, and growth accelerated with it.

One warning from Vohra: the score is not a trophy. As you grow past early adopters into more skeptical users, it can fall. That's fine. The point of an engine is that you can run it again.

Your product-market fit score may well drop as you grow.

Key idea

PMF is not a milestone you cross once. It's a metric you re-measure constantly and can actively move, and it can move back down as your audience broadens.
